Twitter users around the world are reporting problems today with the popular online VoIP tool “Skype”.    The problems have been confirmed by Skype who have now issued instructions on how to rectify the problem:

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Quit Skype (right click on system tray icon and choose quit)

Delete shared.xml from the folder:(make sure hidden files can be seen)

c:\users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\skype

Restart Skype

 

Windows XP

Quit Skype (right click on system tray icon and choose quit)

Delete shared.xml from the folder: (make sure hidden files can be seen)

c:\documents and settings\<your username>\Application Data\Roaming\skype

Restart Skype

Mac OS X

Quit Skype.

Delete the file shared.xml from the folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Skype/

Restart Skype.
