What’s interesting looking at the analytics is the distribution of the post readers:

As you can see, the UK seems to be the worst hit, but the scam appears to be also targeting Canada and the US.

Some of the keywords bringing in the readers are also interesting:

bluebird virus
bluebird computer virus
anti virus phone scam canada
anti virus phone scam+june, 2011
blue bird virus
bluebird virus call scam
blueword virus
calls from microsoft about a virus in canada
computer scram phone call nova scotia
does microsoft phone you about virus
microsoft virus targetting users via telephone
pc masters scam
phone scam nova scotia fix computer

telephone scam june 2011 saying you have a virus

What’s evident here is that the company phoning up is also claiming to be from Microsoft!

If you receive a call from a company either claiming to be from Microsoft, or calling themselves PC Masters – and they tell you that your PC is infected, hang up.   They’re trying to gain access to your PC and charge you for it!

If you have any other details to pass on regarding the scam, please leave a comment and we’ll investigate further.
