Just been working on a PC which was pretty badly infected.   Malwarebytes managed to clear most of the infection – but after a reboot – kept reporting that c:\windows\system32\uacinit.dll was an infected trojan.   It doesn’t matter how many times I tried to remove uacinit.dll, it kept reappearing after a reboot.

Looking through several blog posts on the subject – most were giving pages of in depth instuctions needed to remove it.   However one suggested simply booting of the XP cd, going into the recovery console and deleting it.

Well, it appears to have worked!   Several reboots and several scans – the PC appears clean!
