A customer recently contacted me in a panic because an update to Microsoft Edge had deleted all of his favourites! This was a new one to me as I’ve performed many Edge updates and never seen this before.
Sure enough – I checked it out and they were all gone. No trace – not even in the recycle bin!
Luckily though, I found a (somewhat) secret backup that you can use to recover them.
There’s a hidden folder here:
%UserProfile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups\backups
In here is a HTML file containing a backup of all the favourites which you can then import back into Edge!
